TITLE: PRIMARY/ELEMENTARY SCHOOL PRINCIPAL, GRADES K-5
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Georgia Leadership Certification L-6 or Higher
- At least five years of experience as a teacher
- At least two years of successful administrative experience
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.
REPORTS TO: Superintendent
SUPERVISES:
- Teaching staff, including paraprofessionals
- Other professional staff
- All nonprofessional school staff
- Other resource and service personnel while functioning in the assigned school
- Custodial staff assigned to school
- Maintenance staff assigned to school
JOB GOAL: To make the school facility an attractive, pleasant and productive place in which to work and learn.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Administers the school and its instructional program in all its facets.
- Interprets and implements board policies and administrative regulations.
- Supervises the school staff and alternative school staff.
- Assists in the recruiting, screening, training, hiring and assigning of school staff.
- Coordinates the school’s pupil personnel services.
- Coordinates the full range of extra-curricular activities.
- Assumes responsibility for the attendance, conduct, and health of students.
- Interprets the school’s program to the community and enlists the participation of the community in school life.
- Provides leadership in moments of school crisis and civil disobedience.
- Assists in the on-going improvement of the school curriculum.
- Advises the district office n activities in the school and supervises the submission of required reports.
- Supervises all activities that take place after school, which are school related.
- Maintains accreditation with various associations.
- Consistently enforces discipline as necessary.
- Works closely with Central Office personnel to supervise and plan for special areas such as Special Education, Gifted, and Remedial Classes.
- Supervises lead custodians and custodial staff; administers school custodial supplies budget.
- Serves as chair of School Council.
- Supervises maintenance staff assigned to campus. Administers school maintenance budget.
- Maintains a system-wide list of qualified substitute teachers in accordance with local and state regulations.
- Handles discipline problems occurring on school buses.
- Assists in the planning and preparation of the annual budget.
- Maintains and up-to-date application file of prospective candidates for al teaching, administrative, and classified positions.
- Draws up job descriptions for staff positions and coordinates the periodic review and revision of existing job descriptions.
- Develops and maintains school-level handbooks for all employees and students.
- Administers those phases of the personnel program that include certification, records and evaluation summary reports.
- Assume other duties as assigned by the Superintendent.
EVALUATION: Performance of this job will be evaluated annually.
