TITLE: ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL      Grades PK-2

 

QUALIFICATIONS:       1.   Valid Teacher Certification

                                 2.   Georgia Leadership Certificate

                                       1. At least five years successful teaching experience

                                       2. Ability to communicate and works well with school personnel

                                       3. Such alternatives to these qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable

 

REPORTS TO: Principal

 

JOB GOAL:  To promote the educational well being of each student and teacher in the school and provide instructional support and leadership throughout the school.

 

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  1. Helps coordinate and manage the instructional program in grades PreK-5.
  2. Assumes the responsibilities delegated by the principal in his/her absence.
  3. Assists with the opening and closing school activities.
  4. Coordinates the preparation of student/class schedules.
  5. Serves as School Test Coordinator.
  6. Provides orientation for new staff members and assists in their professional growth as requested by the principal.
  7. Coordinates new student placement and helps student adjust to the school.
  8. Assists the curriculum director with inventories and distribution of all curricular materials and supplies within the schools.
  9. Coordinates Georgia Full-Time Equivalent (FTE) Count and completes the FTE report for the school.
  10. Shares responsibility for completing Georgia State Standards for the school.
  11. Keeps abreast of new developments in instruction and disseminates information about them to the staff.
  12. Assists teachers with day-to-day problems in curriculum and instruction.
  13. Helps coordinate staff development activities.
  14. Conducts teacher observations as requested.
  15. Ensures that teachers have appropriate curriculum guides.
  16. Assists with the Title I, Remedial Education and Special Education Instructional programs.
  17. Performs such other responsibilities as the principal may from time to time assign.

 

EVALUATION:          Performance of this job will be evaluated annually.
