TITLE:  Guidance Counselor PreK-5  

QUALIFICATIONS:   

    1.   A valid certificate as a guidance counselor.

REPORTS TO:                       Principal

 

JOB GOAL:                           To help students overcome problems that impede learning and to assist them in making educational, occupational, and life plans that hold promise for their personal fulfillment as mature and responsible men and women.

 

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  1. Provides in-class guidance activities (at least two thirty minute sessions a day on a regularly-scheduled basis).
  2. Conducts group counseling with students in areas educational or personal need (e.g. conflict resolution, grief, divorce, etc.)
  3. Works with students on an individual basis in the solution of personal problems related to such problems as home and family relations, health, and emotional adjustment and small groups as needed.
  4. Confers with staff, parents and community agencies whenever necessary.
  5. Provides in-service training in guidance for teachers and student teachers.
  6. Serves on the Student ServicesTeam.
  7. Assists in the implementation of new programs, (e.g. drug education, sexuality education).
  8. Coordinates 504 Meetings K-5.
  9. Assists with the administration of Standardized tests.
  10. Observes children in classroom settings as a member of the Response to Intervention (RTI) process.
  11. Serves on CTAE Advisory Council Committee.
  12. Participates in professional growth activities.
  13. Assumes other duties as designated by the principal.

 

EVALUATION:  Performance of this job will be evaluated annually.
